Last night was a better night’s sleep fortunately, so I’m really happy about that as yesterday I was feeling really rough from the infection and fluid in my right lung, food wasn’t being my friend either with the reflux kicking it up a level.
Today has been a better day. The intravenous antibiotics they have me on for the infection felt better after I has my first dose. The stronger pain relief they gave me took the sting out of the pain and discomfort from the right lung as well.
It also seems as though I have a partially collapsed right lung and there may also be pneumonia starting in bottom of my left lung, which would explain the shortness of breath and the difficulty in being able to take a really deep breath.
Had a couple of the Home Team doctors see me this morning while they were doing their rounds on the ward. He confirmed that I have only months to live as this cancer is growing rapidly. He also informed me that the Oncology Team would visit me today again and the Palliative Team as well.
The Oncology Team doctor I spoke with last week, she came in with her consultant and he said himself, after meeting with all the other team doctors overseeing my medical needs, he told me that I would not be a good candidate for Chemo as my body wouldn’t take it but I knew that already.
The Oncology Doctor told me that the cancer has filled and expanded my liver as bowel cancer often spreads to the liver, so expect an unhappy and painful liver.
Spoke with a doctor from the Palliative Team as well. Their main role will with me will be pain relief and making me as comfortable as I can be in however much time I have to live and when I need the pain relief.
However much time I have left of life, I’m not going to let it get me down. I’ve been through a lot in life and this is the biggest thing but I’m still going to be who I am, the person who loves to make people laugh, continue to be positive and live for today.
Until next time
