Lots of plot twists today, that’s for sure.
This morning the doctor’s on rounds in charge of my care talked with me about the infection in my right lung and the start of pneumonia in my left lung and how they are treating the infection with another course of intravenous antibiotics. The doctor was honest with me in telling me that because I am a long term patient in hospital, I will be more susceptible to infections. They will keep treating the infections until I say I’ve had enough, or my body tells me I’ve had enough. He also confirmed that my left lung does have the start of pneumonia in the bottom of the lung. So it will either be the fluid building up in my body, or the cancer that will get me sooner, rather than later as the cancer is rapidly spreading.
The doctor also ordered another CT Scan to be taken to see how the right and left lung to get a better idea of what is going on there.
I had a visit by another doctor from the Palliative Team who discussed the medications they will put me on that I can take as needed to help with pain and with sleep. The Palliative Team gave charted for me stronger pain relief if I need it and something to help me sleep if I need it.
The third visit from the hospital for the morning, was a volunteer from the Spiritual Care Team.
Two other visitors came to see me as well, a “Bus Buddy” as that is how we met and a friend from my church.
Now, I really do have to get serious about getting my will done, the Advance Care Directive and my funeral organised.
Until next time
