Monday 27 April 2026…

Last night I had issues with sleeping. I had a shortness of breath as I have fluid on my right lung and an infection. So the nurse put me on oxygen.

Today, I wasn’t feeling any better, so the oxygen stayed.

This morning when the Home Team doctor was doing his rounds with his junior doctors and students, he ordered blood cultures to be done to see what type of infection in my right lung they were dealing with. He also did a swab up my nose and the back of my throat to see what bugs were there as I had a dry cough and all the coughing irritated my airway making me cough even more. No one from Dr Litwin’s team mentioned to the nurses that he did a swab because they need to follow precautions and wear gloves, a plastic apron and a mask until the results come in.

It took 3 doctor’s with an ultrasound to get a cannula in my arm so I could have intravenous antibiotics.

During the first attempt of the doctor’s getting a cannuala in my arm, the right lung with the fluid decided to make its presence felt, so I was given some strong pain relief.

Food was not my friend today as there was a lot of reflux, so one of the nurses gave me some Gaviscon.

I spoke with a person from the Palliative Team here in the hospital this afternoon about the care they will provide when I leave the hospital.

It’s been a full on day today and now I’m getting antibiotics into me, I’m feeling a little better.

Was given Furosemide fluid tablets this morning to help pee out the fluid in my right lung.

I also got my will started as well as the Advanced Care Directive. It’s all on right now.

Until next time

Kaye
